It is hoped that one day, regenerative medicine will help to produce extended healthy longevity. All of the most impressive demonstrations of regenerative medicine, since the beginning of the century, have used varying forms of stem cells, embryonic, adult and most recently induced pluripotent stem cells to trigger healing within the patient. A great deal of press attention, for example, has been given to success in alleviating life-threatening heart conditions.

Let's face it - the last year has been a period of retrenchment for the life sciences industry. Whether you consider this to be a positive or negative turn of events depends on which side of the fence you're on. On one side, for example, a number of companies without access to significant capital have had to lay off employees to preserve their programs and to protect their intellectual property. On the other hand, some weaker companies have merged with stronger partners to create new organizations that offer a greater depth and breadth of programs to their customers.

The program offers individuals the opportunity to connect with other professionals with similar interests or backgrounds to promote development, addressing the need for human capital in the biotech industry.

National Biotechnology Week is a celebration of life sciences’ contributions to society, showing how new advances are affecting our every day lives. From health to the bioeconomy to the environment, biotechnology and life sciences developments have clearly addressed many of society’s needs. The Biotechnology Initiative (TBI) believes that knowledge is a key driver to technology use, and that education is key to informed decisions about policy.

Spotlight shines on Toronto during first ever "National Canadian Science Policy Conference"
The first ever National Canadian Science Policy Conference, held October 28-30, brought notable names from the biotechnology and life sciences industry, government and academia to Toronto to discuss the future of Canada’s science policy infrastructure. During the three-day-event, approximately 60 speakers, including several prominent figures addressed more than 420 delegates on a variety of current related issues.

Immunovaccine Inc. is partnering and collaborating with organizations to make better vaccines. On November 10th Immunovaccine announced the signing of a new collaborative agreement with the National Cancer Institute (NCI) in Maryland, USA to assist in development of cancer vaccines by formulating NCI’s antigens in the DepoVax™ vaccine enhancement technology.

Immunovaccine Inc. (IMV) starts trading on TSX-V
Immunovaccine Inc. is pleased to announce it will begin trading on the TSX-Venture Exchange as of October 5, 2009. Immunovaccine Inc. will trade as a Tier 1 issuer under the ticker symbol "IMV”. The company successfully closed a concurrent round of financing to support the Phase 1 clinical for DPX-0907, a therapeutic breast ovarian and prostate cancer vaccine, and intends to start the trial in Q1 2010.
Immunovaccine Inc. is continuing to develop breakthrough technologies to make vaccines better. The company continues to strengthen its vaccine pipeline through licensing and strategic partnering.
Immunovaccine will be presenting at BioContact in Quebec City, BioPartnering Europe in London, the Life Sciences and Health Care Venture Summit in New York, Bio Investor Forum in San Francisco and Bio Europe in Vienna.
