TBI Mentorship program moving forward
First announced at the March TBI breakfast meeting, plans for The Biotechnology Initiative’s (TBI) mentorship program are moving along quite nicely, with the mentorship committee anticipating a September launch. Heading up the committee is Jill Osborne who says right now organizers will use the summer months to iron out the final details while setting up a web-based program that will best match participants.

While the state of Georgia doesn’t rank among the biggest biotech hotbeds in the U.S., BIO 2009 was a coming-out party of sorts for the Peach State. More than 14,000 attendees descended upon the Georgia World Congress Center for the conference, despite the economic recession, many left Atlanta with the idea that Georgia could one day be a key player in the biotech space.

Attendees of TBI’s May 21st breakfast were treated to a glimpse of where healthcare is headed, with two companies, one a large organization (IBM) and one an emerging one (Infonaut Inc.) showing off their solutions and how information technology (IT) holds the key to a radical transformation of the healthcare industry.

Amorfix Closes $3.3 Million Private Placement
TORONTO, Ontario – April 29, 2009 – Amorfix Life Sciences Ltd. announced today that it has closed a non-brokered private placement, pursuant to which a total of 5,146,300 units (Units) were issued at a price of $0.65 per Unit for gross proceeds of $3,345,095. The size of the offering was increased from the amount previously announced to accommodate over-subscriptions.
