Special guests attend TBI January Breakfast
The Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada (DFAIT), in collaboration with the Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE), invited 11 scholarship recipients from Argentina, Brazil, Jamaica and Chile, currently conducting research in Canada, to participate in the Emerging Leaders in the Americas Program (ELAP) science and technology study tour in Toronto from January 18-21, 2010. One of the final stops on their tour was the January Biotechnology Initiative breakfast, upon recommendation by the DFAIT Toronto Regional Office which has membership in the TBI and is active in promoting this worthwhile event to DFAIT and its network.

TBI January 21 Breakfast: "Biotechnology in Today's World - Developing the Skills for our Future"
On January 21, 2010, the Biotechnology Initiative (TBI) kicked off its 2010 monthly breakfast presentation series with three speakers: Alison Symington, executive director Bioscience Education Canada (BEC); Dr. Paula Demacio, a professor at Centennial College; and Samir Bansal, of the Business Development Bank of Canada.

The December Member Marathon this year brought TBI members a mixture of presenters –from biotechnology members with exciting stories to tell of emerging drugs/technologies to service providers with interesting projects and case studies.

TBI recently launched its mentorship program to help develop business and science professionals and build a stronger network of expertise within Ontario.
