Science and Biotechnology Awards

Education and public awareness of biotechnology are a critical component of TBI’s mandate. We aim to develop initiatives to advance the understanding and support for biotechnology within the education system in the Greater Toronto Area.
For this purpose, TBI has an Education Committee that focuses on secondary and post-secondary activities. Until 2006, the Committee offered two awards to recognize students advancing biotechnology in their communities and academic institutions:
TBI Science Awards ($100.00 per student)
TBI Biotechnology Awards ($200.00 per student)
The Committee continues to support undertakings with a long-term impact and benefit to the biotechnology community. In the near future, we hope to put in place another award program. We look forward to continued participation and support from our TBI members.
For 2006, recipients of the Science and Biotechnology Award were presented with certificates and awards at the TBI breakfast meeting on November 16, 2006. Please see below for the list of winners. Click here (hyperlink) for details on TBI’s breakfast meetings and an agenda of topics.
