NoAb BioDiscoveries Introduces Microdialysis Test for Preclinical Drug Evaluation
NoAb BioDiscoveries, Inc. has introduced a quantitative Microdialysis service for determining free drug concentrations in different regions of the brain in rats.
In Vivo evaluation of drug penetration into the Central Nervous System (CNS) is vital for characterizing drugs targeting the CNS. Several methods, such as brain homogenate and Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF) collection have been developed to study drug distribution in the CNS. However, these methods cannot accurately assess the localization of the drug in the brain. In contrast, NoAb’s quantitative intracerebral microdialysis method directly determines the free drug concentration in the extracellular fluid (ECF) of different brain regions over time.
The NoAb microdialysis system is conducted in freely moving rats. Artificial CSF is perfused into a probe implanted in a specified brain region, and dialysate as well as plasma are sampled over time, and then analyzed for drug levels. The results offer a good indication of blood-brain barrier permeability of the drug, as well as its distribution to the site of action.
“NoAb is committed to developing innovative services and products to enhance the drug discovery process”, commented Mr. Dan Lichtman, President and CEO of NoAb BioDiscoveries. “We are developing and validating new In Vivo drug disposition procedures in rodents to help drug developers profile and shape their compounds into the best candidates for further development.”
NoAb BioDiscoveries is a discovery stage contract research organization, engaged in developing and providing novel tools for accelerating the drug discovery process. NoAb provides a broad suite of In Vitro ADME assays, In Vivo Pharmacokinetic studies and expression analysis of ADME-associated genes.
