Dale Patterson

Dale Patterson is the President of The Bourton Group, a private, independent marketing, communications and government relations consulting practice. He is the Executive Director of the Retail Venture Funds Association, President of BioFinance Canada, Founding Chair of the Biotechnology Council of Ontario, and former Executive Vice President of the Canadian Medical Discoveries Fund. He has a Provincial Order-in-Council appointment as the Chair of the Postsecondary Education Quality Assessment Board, served as a Special Advisor to the Board of Directors of the Ontario Research and Development Challenge Fund, the Ontario Innovation Trust, and is the former Chief of Staff to the Ontario Minister of Industry, Trade and Technology.

Mr. Patterson is a member of the Board of Directors of several professional and non-profit organizations, including, the The Biotechnology Initiative, the Canadian Venture Capital Association, the Ontario Medical Technologies Consortium, the Ontario Health Research Alliance, the Genome Canada Science and Industry Advisory Committee, The Canadian Health Industries Partnership and is the Past Chair of the Biotechnology Human Resource Council. He was recently appointed to the Board and as Treasurer of the International Network for Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education.

Mr. Patterson, a graduate of York University, is the past Chair of the Board of Governors of Ryerson University, and served as Co-Chair of the Council of Ontario Universities Board Chairs. He is also a founding member of the Board of Directors and the Board of Governors of Opportunity International Canada, a 3rd world, micro-credit, development organization. He also has completed the Institute of Corporate Directors/Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto, Not-For-Profit Governance Essentials Program.

Other experience includes several years as a Management Consultant, a Program Manager and Vice President, International Marketing for the Urban Transportation Development Corporation and Executive Vice President and Partner of the Morrison Hershfield Consulting Engineering Group.
